Program Note:
Prelude Around G is a play on the form of an old church prelude. The piece combines slightly off harmonies with the ‘incorrect’ stops on the organ to create familiar, yet new sounds. As the name implies, the note G begins, concludes, and holds symbolic meaning throughout the prelude, but is recontextualized and reharmonized so frequently that it cannot commit to one single scale or mode.
