Theurgy
for viola and live electronics
ca. 10-12 min.
composed for Jennifer Quian-Lopez
Program Note:
Theurgy positions the audience as an observer, waiting around a distant world of human and mechanical sounds. Throughout the piece, the violist is both an explorer and creator, discovering and grasping for new possibilities while plowing through the self-formed halo of electronics. All sounds are completely derived from the live performer, with the resulting atmosphere warranting the electronic evolution into a resplendent array of divinity in each new performance.
Note:
purchase of the score includes the Max/MSP patch needed for the live electronic accompaniment
